Disclaimer:
Please don’t consider waking up early as a sign of productivity. The true measure of productivity is the amount of work done after you wake up. Also, remember to take at least 6–8 hours of sleep every day.

1. The push-ups method (Easy Mode)

This one’s pretty straightforward:

  1. You set your alarm.
  2. Put alarm/phone under your bed/table.
  3. Now, as soon as the alarm starts ringing in the morning and you have to lie down on the floor to stop it!
  4. Since you’re lying down, why not do a set of 15 push-ups? This will surely get your blood pumpin’

2. The Secondary Alarm Method (Veteran mode)

  1. Set your alarm.
  2. Set a secondary alarm.
  3. Put the secondary alarm in another room or if possible, on a different floor.
  4. In the morning, your first alarm wakes you up, and the secondary alarm makes you walk up to the other room/floor.

3. The QR-CODE Method (Professional Mode)

  1. Download Sleep As Android app for android, or Barcode Alarm Clock app for IOS.
  2. Generate QR-Code for the android app or barcode for the IOS app.
  3. Take print-out of the QR-Code/Barcode on an A4 sheet.
  4. Train your app to recognize the printed QR-CODE/Barcode.
  5. Paste the QR-Code/Barcode sheet in your bathroom.
  6. In the morning, as soon as the alarm hits, you’ll need to walk to your bathroom to scan the QR-CODE/Barcode to turn your alarm off.
  7. Since you’re there, how about washing your face and start the day!

4. The Social Embarrassment Method (Deathwish Mode)

  1. Go to Twittimer , and signup via your twitter account.
  2. Set a tweet that says,

“I am a lazy bum, who’s too tired to get up.”

scheduled to go out every day at 5:01 AM.

3. Set alarm for 5 AM.

4. In the morning you’ll need to wake up and manually stop the scheduled tweet from going out.

Start with why!

All these methods will only work if you have a good reason to wake up. Rise to fulfill a purpose. It’s the only thing that’s going to wake you up with a smile. To figure out your purpose, I recommend reading ‘Start with why’ and ‘Find your why’ by Simon Sinek.

Remember, getting things done is what truly matters, not when you get them done.
